Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies relevant legislation, documentation, policies and procedures

demonstrates completion of incorporating health and hygiene factors into mine management that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

identifying the fundamentals of human disease and injury that can occur on a mine site and prepares a management plan to manage site health and hygiene factors

identifying viable health and hygiene program options, explores and considers options to best meet the required outcomes and communicates outcomes to others

establishing and resourcing of health and hygiene training programs

analysing health hazards in various forms on site and establishing controls to manage the hazards

establishing and communicating effective procedures for conducting enquiries / investigations and preparing written reports

using various communicate systems and methods to communicate health and hygiene requirements, ideas and information to others

demonstrating support of others to maintain the standards of procedures and instructions in mine site and operations

establishing procedures for preparing and documenting policies, plans and procedures

evaluating data from monitoring systems for plant/equipment and work processes to improve health and hygiene outcomes

establishing the review and audit processes / techniques to determine anomalies, good practice and implement solutions


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of incorporating health and hygiene factors into mine management through:

relevant licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements

fundamentals of health and hygiene and the effects on the human body

health and hygiene policy requirements

health and hygiene objectives, targets, performance indicators and criteria

health and hygiene management systems information support requirements and options

risk management and control theory and processes

continuous improvement processes and techniques

health and hygiene training requirements and systems
